Organic Practices

Organic practices are a vital part of the entire Diestel farming operation. Tim Diestel provided key leadership in achieving development of the USDA standards for certified organic poultry. After the Organic Food Production Act (OFPA) was passed in 1990, Tim testified at national hearings to help define the requirements for organic poultry.

Today we are proud to offer a full selection of organic turkeys, including our Diestel Organic line of whole body turkeys and turkey products, as well as our certified organic Heirloom Collection.

All of our organic products are third-party certified by Oregon Tilth Certified Organic (OTCO). The purpose of organic certification is to ensure that the agreed-upon conventions of organic agricultural systems are being practiced not only by growers, but also by all the people who handle and process organic food on its journey to the consumer.

Our certified organic turkeys are fed a 100% organic diet, free of GMO grains, which we mill directly on our ranch. Certified organic goes further to eliminate pesticide-treated grains, synthetic amino acids, and grains grown with chemical fertilizers. We believe that the purest choice is organic!
