We feel that quality cannot be left to chance. So we continually maintain control of every operation – from our feed mill to growing, through processing and distribution. And there lies the difference.

We insist on providing our birds with the very best environment which allows the to grow naturally. Diestel turkeys enjoy the freedom of being raised on range in the clean Sierra Nevada foothills. From our feed mill, our turkeys are fed only the the finest grains free of animal by products. This natural growing environment results in premium, tender, juicy birds with a superior meat yield – without the need for hormones or growth stimulants.

Since we grow our birds longer – they develop into broad-breasted birds with superior yield (lots of white meat) and superb flavor. Due to this extra growing time the following weights are available for Original Diestel Turkey hens and toms. We are so proud of their size that we label them on the bag as "Hen" or "Tom." This is your assurance of our commitment to quality.

The Original Diestel Hen ranges 10 to 24+ lbs.
The Original Diestel Tom ranges 24 to 36+ lbs.

Range grown and raised longer
Our Original Diestel turkeys enjoy the freedom of being range grown in the clean Sierra Foothills with individual care where they are raised longer (approximately 6 months) to develop flavor naturally – real flavor from real time.

Fed a low fat vegetarian diet free of growth stimulants and hormones
Our Original Diestel turkeys are fed a wholesome low fat vegetarian diet of quality grains and soybeans milled on the ranch – free of growth stimulants and hormones.

Broad-breasted
Our Original Diestel turkeys provide excellent value with more meat, less fat and less water than commodity turkeys.

All of our turkeys are grown, processed and delivered directly to you by us – the Diestel Family Turkey Ranch – family owned and operated since 1949 and working as one of the last small, family owned turkey grower-processors in the United States.
